The Archbishop of Canterbury's Representative to the Holy See, Director of the Centre
The Very Revd Canon David Richardson is the Archbishop of Canterbury's Representative to the Holy See and Director of the Centre. David is married to Margie, and they have two adult children.

David has been Dean of two cathedrals in Australia, Adelaide and Melbourne. He is Dean Emeritus of St Paul's Cathedral Melbourne. He is one of four Provincial Canons of Canterbury.

The Director has a two way Ambassadorial role: from the Archbishop to the Vatican and from the Vatican in Rome and out to the entire Anglican Communion. The Director’s task is to maintain good relationships with the Curia, with the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity and with the other dicasteries as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Representative. He also assists in keeping the Curia informed about developments within the Anglican Communion and the Communion informed about developments in the Roman Catholic Church.

The Archbishop of Canterbury speaking in Rome in November 2009 said:

“The Anglican Centre is increasingly a place of meeting not only for Anglicans and Roman Catholics, but for Anglicans of different backgrounds. Hospitality is at the heart of this, and David and Margie Richardson have wonderfully continued the legacy of welcome that has always characterised the Centre. More and more, it is a crucial resource for strengthening our own Anglican identity as well as interpreting it to others, and seeks to be somewhere where all members of our very diverse family can feel at home.”
