On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the Anglican Centre in Rome welcomed the Secretary of State of the Vatican, His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin. He preached at the celebration of the Eucharist presided over by Archbishop Ian Ernest, in the presence of various religious dignitaries and the diplomatic corps accredited to the Vatican. In his homily, the Cardinal highlighted the active and significant presence of the Anglican Centre which was established in 1966. He then mentioned about the present commitment and faithfulness of the director of the Anglican Centre as he strives to maintain and develop friendly relations between the Anglican Communion and the Roman Catholic Church and in the same breath with other Christian denominations present in Rome. Through his inspiring and encouraging words the Cardinal also underlined the importance of following the commandment of Jesus « to love God and neighbour. »
